Shooting some hoops
A crowd of kids patiently waited to take their turn at scoring some hoops on Thursday night.
The Iowa Park and Recreation Association and the Webster City Park and Recreation Department sponsored the annual IPRA youth basketball “spot shot” contest on Thursday at Jefferson Gymnasium. “We had a good turnout with 40 kids participating,” Recreation Technician Mark Glascock said. “All the kids did a nice job and hopefully those that qualified for state will do well at the spot shot finals.” Glascock, the youth spot shot coordinator, wanted to thank all of the basketball coaches, athletes and Fuller Hall staff who helped put on the event. The following kids participated and placed at the spot shot event: • 8-year-old girls: Taylor McKinney, Webster City — 1st; Rylee Woodall, Kamrar — 2nd. • 8-year-old boys: Carson Struchen, Webster City — 1st; Tyler Moen, Webster City — 2nd. • 9-year-old girls: Haley Flaws, Webster City — 1st. • 9-year-old boys: Noah McKinney, Webster City — 1st; Henry Hoversten, Alexander — 2nd.
