Forum was a chance to learn about candidates

Last Thursday night, local citizens had the opportunity to hear from candidates running for Hamilton County sheriff and District 2 supervisor. The Daily Freeman-Journal candidates forum was a chance to meet Bill Derrig, Ken Peck and Doug Timmons – the sheriff candidates, and Dan Campidilli and Wes Sweedler – candidates for supervisor. The audience had the opportunity to hear the candidates’ views and positions on a variety of issues.

The Daily Freeman-Journal hosted the event because we believe it’s important to provide a forum for the sharing of ideas and visions for the future of Hamilton County. We think it may help voters make an informed decision as they stand in the voting booth.

More than 100 people attended the event at the Webster City Middle School. We thank those for attending and for submitting some thoughtful and tough questions for the candidates.

We also thank the candidates for taking the time to attend the forum and sharing their views.

The primary is scheduled for June 7. Polls are open in Hamilton County from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

We hope you will take the time to make your voice heard by casting your vote.
