Duane Grove, 82, Webster City
Duane Grove died on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home, he was 82 years old. Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on, Friday, April 14, at United Church of Christ in Jewell. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, April 13, at the United Church of Christ in Jewell, from 5-7 PM. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.Bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
Duane Grove was born to Fredrick Clare Grove and Blanche (Oakes) Grove on November 20, 1934, on the home farm in Hamilton County, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Jewell High School. Due to his father’s blindness, he started farming at a young age and still farmed until his death.
He grew up loving to fish and spent many summers camping at a lake in Minnesota fishing and watching the sun come up over the lake, the birds in the early morning hours and the fish swimming along the shore.
July 14, 1956, he married Lois Marilyn Elwick at the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell. They had three children: Gena Marie (Randy) Parrish of Massanutten, Virginia; Loren Eugene (Vicki) Grove of Story City; and Paul David (Heather) Grove of Ames. The grandchildren: Heather (Scott) Alexander, their twin sons, Brycen and Madox Alexander; Krista Parrish, all of Massanutten, Virginia; Kelly Grove of Story City; Brad (Katie) Hill, their sons, Sawyer and Hunter Hill of Story City; Samantha Grove and Mitchell Grove both of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Merle, sister-in-law Lavonne, and step grandson Chad Hill.
