Absentee ballot count climbs to more than 2,680 in Hamilton County

A steady stream of early voters circulated through the courthouse lobby Monday afternoon on the last day of early voting before the midterm election Tuesday.

As of 2 p.m., 2,680 voters had requested absentee ballots or had voted early in Hamilton County, according to County Auditor Kim Schaa. She is also the commissioner of elections.

Absentee ballots can be dropped off at the Hamilton County Courthouse until 9 p.m. Tuesday night. They will also be accepted via mail if postmarked on Nov. 6.

Or, Schaa said those who have unreturned absentee ballots can also surrender them at the polls and vote in person.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on election day.

Where to vote

Wondering where to vote? Polling sites for the Nov. 6 general election are as follows:

• Precinct 1: City of Kamrar, Cass Township, Freedom Township, Fremont Township, and Independence Township: Polling site: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church activity room, use east entrance located at 1229 Kathy Lane, Webster City.

• Precint 2: City of Blairsburg, City of Williams, Blairsburg Township, Liberty Township, and Williams Township: Polling site — Blairsburg City Hall, at 310 Lake St., Blairsburg.

• Precinct 3: City of Stanhope, City of Stratford, Clear Lake Township, Hamilton Township, Marion Township, and Webster Township: Polling site — Stanhope Community Center, 600 Main St., Stanhope.

• Precinct 4: City of Jewell, City of Randall, Ellsworth Township, and Lyon Township: Polling site — South Hamilton High School, main entrance located at 315 Division St., Jewell.

• Precinct 5: City of Ellsworth, Lincoln Township, Rose Grove Township, and Scott Township: Polling site — Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Room, use East entrance, 1629 DeWitt St., Ellsworth.

• Webster City First Precinct:  Polling site — Webster City Fire Station polling site at the Southwest entrance located at 919 Superior Street in Webster City.

• Webster City Second Precinct: Polling site — St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, west entrance located at 1005 Beach Street in Webster City.

• Webster City Third Precinct: **WC Third/ Cass Township: Polling site — First Baptist Church using the East entrance at 543 Division St., Webster City.
