DCI called in Hamilton County death case

Male found deceased Tuesday morning

A male was found dead at a home near Webster City Tuesday morning, and state and local authorities are investigating.

The identity of the individual had not been released by Tuesday night because investigators were still in the process of notifying family members, according to a report from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.

The body was found at a home at 724 Kendall Young Road, just east of Webster City, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Online records of the Hamilton County Assessor’s Office list Gregory A. Pekkala as the owner of the property.

Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the home at 9:18 a.m. Tuesday to conduct what law enforcement officers call a welfare check. Sheriff Doug Timmons said a welfare check happens when someone calls law enforcement officers to check on someone to make sure there’s nothing wrong with them.

Upon arriving at the home, the deputies found a deceased male.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called to assist. Timmons declined to say if an autopsy has been requested.

Anyone with information about the situation is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriffás Department at (515) 832-9500.
