Adams charged with probation violation

Former student accused of starting ICCC fire

FORT DODGE –A former Iowa Central Community College student accused of causing a fire in the college parking garage has now been accused of violating his probation on a previous case.

Terrell Adams, 22, of Fort Dodge, appeared on a probation violation charge in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning.

His bond had previously been set at $5,000 cash-only on the probation charge.

Magistrate William Habhab transferred the case to Webster County District Court, where a probation violation hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

The original charge was second-degree theft, according to Iowa Courts Online.

Adams also has a preliminary hearing Friday on charges including first-degree arson, possession of an explosive or incendiary device and first-degree criminal mischief.

On Sept. 4, Adams allegedly taped a “mortar shell/explosive device to a flammable hair spray container” and used that to start a fire in the Iowa Central garage, according to the criminal complaints filed against him.

At least three vehicles were damaged in the fire. The parking garage recently reopened and has no structural damage, Iowa Central President Dan Kinney said.
