Ten new teachers join WC district

New staff members ready for 2018-2019 school year

Ten new teachers will be joining the Webster City Community Schools staff when the 2018-2019 school year begins in just a couple of weeks.

Starting off the new staff roster is Ben Baker, who was raised and currently resides in Eagle Grove with girlfriend Misty, daughter Cora, 3, and son, Benson, 2 weeks. Baker received his BA in Elementary Education at Wartburg and has previous teaching experience with the Fort Dodge Community School District, teaching 4th grade for 2 years, and also as an elementary para-educator for the Webster City Community School District for 1 year. Baker will be joining the Sunset Heights Elementary team, teaching 4th grade.

Amberly Habhab is a new addition to the Art program at the Webster City Middle School this Fall, where she will be teaching all students 5th-8th grade. Habhab has two sisters, Adena and Aphea. Habhab is originally from Fort Dodge, she resides in Cedar Falls, where she also attended the University of Northern Iowa for her K-12 Art Education degree. Habhab previously student taught at Sunset Elementary, Northeast Hamilton, Pleasant View Elementary, and Webster City High School.

Mary Embrey has resided in Jewell for almost three decades, but originally hales from Minnesota, where she obtained her BA in Language and Literature via the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Embrey has also acquired her multiple teaching endorsements, which include Language Arts, Reading, Special Education Level 1, and Special Education BD, all through Iowa State University. Embrey’s previous teaching experiences include Roland-Story High School, Boone High School, and South Hamilton Elementary. Embrey’s family consists of husband Rick, son Jonathan, and daughter Kathleen. Embrey will be joining the Webster City Middle School staff as the Middle School Special Ed. BD teacher.

Melissa Lammers resides in Webster City with husband, Ray who farms locally, son, Matthew, 6, who will be a 1st grader at Pleasant View, and daughter, Anna, 3, who will be attending Riverview Preschool. Lammers, originally from Des Moines, attended the University of Northern Iowa for a BA in Liberal Studies and Spanish, then later went on to attend Upper Iowa, earning a BA in Teaching. She then obtained an MA in Education and TESOL certification through Buena Vista University. Lammers has 6 years of previous experience in the Webster City Schools, teaching Title 1 Reading to K-4th grade and 2 years of Kindergarten. Lammers will be adding a 7th year of experience by joining the 5th grade Language Arts and Social Studies programs at the Webster City Middle School.

George Artley

Megan Allison lived in the town of Panora with father Merle, mother Leigh Ann, sister Michelle, and brother Chris, before settling in Webster City to teach 7th grade Math and Social Studies at the Webster City Middle School this upcoming school year. Allison attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she acquired her BA in Elementary Education. This will be Allison’s first year teaching.

Kathryn Jass, current resident of Alden, is originally from Dallas, TX, where she obtained her BA in Marketing from the University of North Texas. Jass is currently working towards her Masters in Special Education at Morningside College. She has 4 years of experience in Texas teaching 6th-7th grade ELA and Reading. Jass will be teaching 6th grade Special Education this Fall. Her family consists of husband Ben, and children, Raylee, 13, Lindsey, 10, Jag, 9, Tyce, 5, and John, 10 months.

Rebekah Eggers is originally from and currently resides in Webster City, with husband John, daughter Natalie, 12, and son Leland, 10. Eggers attended both the University of Northern Iowa and Concordia University, where she obtained her BA in Elementary/Middle Level Education and her MA in Curriculum and Instruction. She has 12 years previous experience in Waterloo, teaching 7th grade Language Arts and Science, as well as 4 years in the Fort Dodge Community School District teaching 8th grade Science. Eggers will be teaching 7th grade Science and Math at the Webster City Middle School this Fall.

Jeromy Brown, is originally from Bradgate, but currently resides in Webster City with his partner, Holly, who is a nurse, and son, Fletcher, 7. Brown acquired his BA in English Education at the University of Northern Iowa. He has previous experience teaching Speech, Drama, Yearbook, and 6th-12th grade English in Diagonal. Brown will be teaching in the Hamilton High Alternative program this school year.

Stacy Zoske is a native of Radcliffe, but now retains residence in Iowa Falls with husband, Mick, and their 3 sons, Nathan, 11, Logan, 7, and Jordan, 3. Zoske obtained her BS in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and Studies via Iowa State University, and had previously taught Family and Consumer Sciences at the Ames Middle School, before taking time off to raise her children. Zoske will continue to teach Family and Consumer Sciences, as well as General Health for 9th-12th grades at the Webster City High School.

Ben Baker

Rounding up the new staff is George Artley, born and raised in Hampton, where he currently resides. Artley has one son, Jack. Artley attended Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa, acquiring his BA in Music Education and his MA in School Counseling. Artley has previous teaching experience as an Admissions Counselor at ISU, an Assistant Director of Admissions at Wichita State University, and as a substitute teacher in Minneapolis and Stillwater, MN, as well as in Hampton. Artley will be the new school counselor for 5th-8th grade at the Webster City Middle School.
