The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Hamilton County will go on the road this year as the annual fundraiser will be held in Stanhope on Wednesday, June 20.

The new venue will allow the Relay activities to coincide with Stanhope’s Wednesday Night in the Park. Events get underway at 5 p.m. with a survivor-caregiver social at the Stanhope Community Center. At 6 p.m., the opening ceremony will be held in the city park, followed by the survivor’s lap.

Special activities are planned throughout the evening including a silent auction. Luminaria will be available for purchase during the evening with special luminaria ceremony to close out the evenings activities at 9 p.m.

A meal will be served by the Stanhope Fire Department and music will provided by The Gustafsons, sponsored by the Stanhope Lions Club.

Teams of friends, co-workers, church organizations and others have been raising funds for the Relay throughout the year. Funds raised will help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing cancer today, and will fund cancer research that will help protect future generations, according to the American Cancer Society.
