Donkey basketball coming to Jefferson Gym

Fundraiser to benefit Webster City FFA Alumni Association

The Dairyland Donkey Basketball Show is coming to Jefferson Gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 8 beginning at 7 p.m.

Kids rides will also be offered at intermission for the first 100 kids that come to the door.

Donkey basketball is played on real, live donkeys. All local players will be riding. This show is being sponsored by the Webster City FFA Alumni Association. All of the proceeds will benefit the Webster City FFA Alumni Association.

“FFA relies on its alumni to garner support for FFA from their local communities, raise funds for chapter activities and scholarships, assist at FFA leadership camps and conferences, and more. The event is being held to raise funds for the WC FFA Alumni, so that we can continue to support the local FFA chapter,” Webster City FFA Alumni Association Treasurer Nick Nuehring said.

Advance tickets can be purchased at the Webster City High School Ag department or at Spangler Automotive for $7. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event for $10.

According to a press release from Dairyland Donkey Ball LLC, “it’s a thrill a minute, spill a minute.”

“People should come to the event to support the Alumni so we can support the local FFA chapter and also to see someone they know try to ride a donkey and play basketball at the same time,” said Nuehring.

The normal donkey ball format is two 16-minute elimination games with a 15-minute intermission in between the two elimination games.

There is one 8-minute championship round immediately following the second elimination game.

Jeff Gym is located at 1101 Des Moines, St., Webster City.
