Looking for a new Christmas tradition to start with the family? Join Sharon Cline this weekend for a day of making home made pizza. Christmas Pizza with Sharon Cline will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“This is a great way to establish a fun tradition children will love and want to continue down the road,” said Cline.

The program, in connection with Legacy Learning Boone River Valley, will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas, 1000 Des Moines St., in Webster City. Cline encourages attendees to bring an apron.

Cost for the program is $40 plus a $10 materials fee. Bring a friend and use the Buddy Plan. Add two to the cart and use the coupon code PIZZA and both come for $65. To register, visit www.legacylearningbrv.org.

“This is perfect way to enjoy time with the family as you gather in the kitchen to create a new and better version each year,” said Cline.

Cline began this special tradition with her family in 2009. Each year, she and her husband and children gather in the kitchen to chop, sautee and cook specially made pizzas.

“We’ve morphed from box crust mix or Boboli to whole wheat and sourdough crust, with imaginative toppings,” said Cline. “Spicy Shrimp Creole, Black Bean Chorizo, Wild Mushroom with Carmelized Onions, or Steak and Boursin might be on the menu.”

Now with nearly nine years of pizza making experience under her belt, Cline and her family make four pizzas each Christmas – two whole wheat and two sour dough crusts with the toppings of their choosing.

“Homemade pizza is much better and healthier than store bought,” said Cline. “You have total control of the ingredients that make up each slice.”

Participants can take home a few slices of heaven and the skills to DIY for the holidays.

“Doing something together as a family is such a special thing,” Cline said.

Cline will be shopping for ingredients before the program, so any participants with toppings suggestions can email cline.sharonmetcalf@gmail.com. Contact Maureen Seamonds at (515) 835-0497 or email seamonds@wmtel.net with questions or for more information.
