The play’s title is based on a quote by Woody Allen, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”
The story revolves around Mom and Dad, played by Sally Evans of Stanhope and Mark Andrew of Webster City. They welcome their three grown children home for the holidays: Thanksgiving 1980, Christmas 1990, New Year’s Eve 1999 (remember Y2k), and Easter 2010.
Richard, their oldest is played by Mikey Paisley of Stanhope. He was the MVP of his high school football team and has struggled to find himself and a meaningful career or relationship ever since.
Newcomer Teresa Crowley of Clare has the role of Maddie, the middle child and only daughter. She is an aspiring actress who has moved to New York City to pursue her career while supporting herself as a teacher.
The younger son, Thomas, is played by Peter Amstalden also of Stanhope. Tom is studying for the priesthood, which has made his mother very happy.
Director Loween Getter along with producer/assistant director Angela Rottering and stage manager/prop master Mark Dohms have been working with the cast to ready the production.
Other crew members include Al Yungclas and Doug Getter on set construction and painting; Stephanie Hill, Wil Groves, and Sam Ose on tech; costumer Karin Yungclas; makeup and hairstylist Gina Nilles; usher captain Linda Thomas; and Kelly Trask as stage crew.
“Making God Laugh” is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.
