Businesses to celebrate Manufacturing Day

Seneca Foundry, Mary Ann’s Specialty Foods, others to hold open houses

Local residents will have a chance to learn more about local industries on Friday.

In honor of Manufacturing Day, Seneca Foundry will be opening its doors to the public on Friday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will give community members a chance to learn about today’s manufacturing techniques and show the potential career opportunities Seneca Foundry has to offer. Planned activities include guided tours of the facility that will show the foundry processes in operation, Foundry in a Box activity, refreshments and door prizes.

Manufacturing Day is a national event designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.

“There is an increasing demand for skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector who can design, program, and operate technology,” said Lori Mason, COO of Seneca Foundry. “We are invested in our employees by offering training and opportunities for them to create their own success. Opening our doors to the public for a tour, to participate in a hands-on activity, and to talk to our employees about their current experience is one thing we can do to help showcase the positive, life changing opportunities that are available in today’s manufacturing industry.”

Seneca Foundry Inc. is a manufacturer of gray and ductile iron castings. The Foundry has been casting their story for more than 100 years. The Foundry prides their business on taking a partnership approach with customers, focusing on solutions and what works best for the customer. Serving many different industries, casting sizes range from ounces up to 250 pounds.

More opportunities

Mary Ann’s Specialty Foods will also be having an open house on Friday, Oct. 6 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with company information and refreshments. Mary Ann’s is located at 1511 E. Second St.

There will also be a job fair on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at IowaWORKS at the Webster City office with May Ann’s Specialty Foods present. The Webster City office is located at 403 Elm St.

There will be two more regional open houses on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

• Monsanto Co. has invited the public to their facilties from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 617 Central Ave. W., Clarion. There will be cookies and a lemonade bar for the public to enjoy.

• Prestage Farms is inviting the public to learn more about opportunities available to the local community. There will be cookies and lemonade at their Eagle Grove office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Their office is located at 1134 290th St., Eagle Grove.
