WC schools respond to violence rumors
Superintendent:?‘No credible evidence found’
Webster City School District officials sent a statement to parents of high school students Wednesday, responding to rumors about alleged threats of violence by a student.
Superintendent Mike Sherwood said in the statement that the district was aware of the rumors.
“Whenever the district is made aware of threats of violence in the district, it works closely with law enforcement to determine whether the treats are credible,” Sherwood said. ” If the district and law enforcement determine the threat is credible, we will take appropriate action to address the threat and notify parents.”
Sherwood revealed no details of the rumored threats in the statement or in a conversation with the Daily Freeman-Journal.
“No credible evidence was found,” he said Wednesday morning.
“We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously and appreciate the cooperation and support of our local law enforcement departments,” the superintendent said.
