Winter workshops to be offered

Still spots available in LLBRV courses Jan. 28, 29

Legacy Learning Boone River Valley is sponsoring a Winter Weekend of workshops Jan. 28 and 29. Officials said there are still a few spots available.workshops are January 28 and 29 and there are a few spots still available. Please join us and take a workshop this weekend. The three remaining classes are:

Echoing Shapes Improvisational Fabric Design 

Jennifer Bernard will lead a workshop featuring creative ways to turn a sweatshirt into a fun jacket, or embellishing a ready made jean jacket with shapes and buttons. The class will alter sweatshirts to open down the front, bias bind the edges, and extend the hem with piecing.

Those attending can choose from four basic shapes — a heart, leaf, flower, or wonky square. Those shapes will be cut into smaller and smaller echoes, and will be scattered over the jacket, and iron fused them in place. The edges of the shapes will then get finished with a zigzag or buttonhole stitch. Rickrack, bias stems, and buttons can also be added as the inspiration guides you! Jennifer will also cover making pockets from the shapes, adding cuffs to sleeves, improving fit, and how to add a zipper. Cost to attend is $100.

Creative Garden Sculpture with Tim Adams

Tim Adams will lead a workshop to teach how to use recycled metal to make a small garden sculpture to take home. Participants will learn the basics of wire welding and experiment with various materials and forms to create your sculpture. Participants will slice through ferrous metals with the oxygen jet of an oxyacetylene cutting torch using power and hand tools to finish your work. The cost to attend is $125.

Painting Landscapes with Diane Kunzler

Participants will join Kunzler to create stunning landscapes. This class is open to artists of all ability levels in any media you choose to bring. Acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel are all welcome and will receive individualized instruction to develop an individual painting style.

Use personal photographs, cell phone images, sketches, or anything that inspires to develop a landscapes Topics will include composition, values, color, light, linear/atmospheric perspective, edges, and paint quality. The course is $100
