The Webster City Police Department responded to a call of a dog stuck in the Boone River near the White Fox Road bridge on Wednesday,
At the scene, officers found the dog in a high spot in the river, surrounded by logs.
Police Chief Shiloh Mork said due to the location of the dog and for safety reasons, the Webster City Fire Department was called to assist. They were able to deploy their rescue boat at the launch near City Park.
Officer Jordan Elonich, Fire Captain Andy Sowle and Firefighter Todd Madsen were able to rescue the dog and transport it safely to shore and then to the Webster City Veterinary Clinic for evaluation.
“This is an example of how you just never know what that next call will be.” Mork said.
