Summer lunches return
The Webster City Summer Lunch Program will kick off for the season on Monday.
Now in its fourth year, the program provides meals to all children free of charge. Meals are served at the school Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. The program runs through July 29. Hartnett said it will be closed on July 4.
Parents or caregivers are welcome to eat with their children, but a fee of $3 is charged to adults 18 and older.
Hartnett said the program also provides sack lunches for daycare children as well as sports teams,
Todd Hartnett, food service director, said as in past years, there will be activities offered each day for those attending. In past years, children have been able to color, play with hula-hoops and enjoy the green space at the middle school. The program is assisted by community and church groups that serve as volunteers for the activities during the lunches.
