Council looks at positions tonight

Two resignations are on the council agenda for tonight. Ed Sadler, Webster City City Manager, whose resignation if approved, will be in effect March 11, and Donald Cook, Traffic Committee, which will be in effect as of March 1.

A motion to approve the appointment of Kent Harfst as Interim City Manger is also on the agenda.

If approved, Harfst will assume city manager duties until a replacement can be found to replace Sadler’s newly-open position.

The city council met last Thursday in an open goal-setting session conducted by Jeff Schott, Director of the Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Iowa, to plan and discuss how to move forward with the process of finding a new, qualified city manager. No decisions were made at the goal-setting session.

A public hearing on a proposal to enter into a General Obligation Corporate Purpose Loan Agreement on March 21 at 5:45 p.m. is on the agenda for approval.

A motion to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Mid Iowa Development Association (MIDAS) Council of Governments to provide technical services for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) City Housing Program is on the agenda for approval.

Also on the agenda are a resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a settlement agreement and general mutual release with Kluesner Construction, Inc., a motion to request proposals for crack sealing of concrete city streets and mosquito control service.
