Monday accident investigated

The Webster City police responded to an accident at the corner of Beach and Elm streets Monday morning.

Andrew H. Croy, Webster City, told officers he was traveling north on Beach St. when he saw Zachary W. Dodge, Webster City, pull out in front of him and try get across the intersection. Croy tried to brake but still collided with Dodge, according to reports. Dodge said he looked both ways and was going too fast coming up to the stop sign. Dodge said he thought he stopped at the stop sign, but was unsure. Dodge’s vehicle sustained an estimated $8,000 in severe damage and was totaled. Croy’s vehicle received an estimated $8,000 in severe damage and was totaled. Both vehicles were disabled and towed. There were no injuries. Dodge was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
