New partners named at Gerber Auto

— Submitted photo Jesse Huber and Josh Geerdes recently became partners in Gerber Auto Care.

Doug Youngdale, owner of Gerber Auto, is pleased to announce the addition of two new partners to the firm, Josh Geerdes and Jesse Huber.

Gerber Auto started in 1973. Youngdale went into auto mechanics because of a high school class.

“We had an auto mechanics class in high school and I decided to follow that path. It’s just too bad that the school doesn’t offer those classes anymore,” he said.

Josh Geerdes, a native Webster City resident, graduated from Webster City High School in 2000. He served in the Navy 5 years and in the Army National Guard for 6 years. His wife, Heather, works for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and they have a 10 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. Geerdes attended school for aviation maintenance and said “I’ve always found myself in a shop somewhere and I like this work.” Geerdes has been with Gerber Auto since 2015.

Jesse Huber was born in Maquoketa but his parents moved here to work at Frigidaire when he was 5 years old. He is an Iowa Central graduate in Automotive and has been with Gerber Auto for 13 years. Huber is an ASE Certified L1 technician. Huber, when asked how he got into cars and automotive repair, said “I had an old 1979 Pontiac and was always tinkering on it. I found out I like working on cars and the challenges that comes along with it.”

His wife Stephanie works at Public Health and they have a 4-year-old daughter and a 4-month-old daughter. “I’m glad to have these two young men join our firm. This will allow me to gradually step back and eventually retire,” Youngdale said.
