Blinkowski joins Maharry Family Dentistry

Dr. Daniel Blinkowski, D.D.S., will begin at Maharry Family Dentistry in early October. He will be at the office every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blinkowski specializes in IV sedation for the comfort of his patients. He is one of few dentists in the central Iowa region to offer this service.

“I do IV sedation. I’m probably one of the few general dentists that does that in the state,” said Blinkowski. “I offer it for just about anything including cleanings and root canals. I do a lot of wisdom teeth.”

“We are looking forward to having him join Maharry Family Dentistry,” said Dr. Greg Maharry. “He is going to be a valuable asset.”

Blinkowski resides in Ames with his wife and four daughters.

“I’m excited to work in a smaller town. Currently I work full-time in Ankeny and there’s tons and tons of dentists there. Here, you have that small town feel,” said Blinkowski.

Blinkowski graduated from Iowa State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Bio-chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in Bio-Chemistry from Iowa State University in 2007. Blinkowski was a recipient of an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship, which he used to attend and graduate from the Creighton University School of Dentistry.

After his graduation from Creighton, Blinkowski was commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. He spent one extra year of training at the Air Force’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE. Blinkowski received training in several specialties including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and periodontics.

Blinkowski was ranked one of the top residents in his class for his clinical ability and knowledge in treatment planning as well as treating multi-disciplinary complex cases.

After completing the residency program in August of 2012, Blinkowski volunteered for an assignment in Alaska at Eielson AFB, where he was one of four dentists.

In the fall of 2015, Blinkowski switched from active duty to Iowa Air National Guard and was assigned to the 132nd wing in Des Moines.

Blinkowski has been providing moderate IV sedation and wisdom tooth extractions to active duty troops for four years and is one of the few dentists in Iowa to hold an IV-Moderate Sedation permit, having completed the training in residency with the Air Force.

Blinkowski is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, and an Associate member of the American Association of Endodontists.
