Rink to open for season
Volunteers sought to staff warming house on weeknights
The Carl Rhoer Ice Skating Rink at Nokomis Park will open for the season this week, according to officials with the Webster City Recreation and Public Grounds Department.
The hours the shelter will be open are from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. There is no cost to use both the rink and to borrow ice skates that are available in the shelter.
During the week, Monday through Friday evenings, the hours will be announced depending on the number of persons who volunteer to supervise the skating rink/shelter. Currently there are no volunteers to staff the warming shelter Monday through Friday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. Contact Kent Harfst at Fuller Hall if you are interested in volunteering your time. With weather conditions changing on a daily basis, call Fuller Hall at 832-9193 to make sure the skating rink is open.
City officials offered a special thank you to Jim Mitchell for volunteering to make the ice.
