Musicians to perform at meeting Thursday, Dec. 7
The Hamilton County S.A.L.T Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 7 will provide the opportunity to hear professional musicians perform a host of Christmas selections.
The meeting will be at the Jewell Fire Station.
Coffee and treats will be served 9:00-9:30 a.m. with free blood pressure checks at the same time compliments of Southfield Wellness Community. Upcoming local events from each Hamilton County community and announcements from law enforcement officials will precede the holiday musical program.
Special music will be presented by Delayna Staples Beattie, formerly of Jewell, and Professor Donald Beattie. Delayna was born in Jewell and is the daughter of Russell and Donna Staples. Like her husband, she has enjoyed a distinguished career as an independent music teacher in piano and voice and has just moved back to Jewell after 35 years in other communities in Iowa and Illinois.
Don enjoyed a 31 year career as Professor of piano and Director of Piano Pedagogy at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Between them, Don and Delayna have presented music programs in all 50 states, Canada and Europe. They are published authors and composers with Edition HAS and Warner Bros. with Don’s music having been performed for two U.S. Presidents and the Kennedy Center and White House.
All S.A.L.T. meetings are free of charge and open to the public. No reservations are required to attend. For additional information, contact Marilyn Middleton at Southfield Wellness Community, 832-3881.
