Sewing contest Nov. 11
Event to take place at Trinity Methodist Church in Huxley
HUXLEY — The Central Iowa Sewing Guild will be holding their Pattern Reviews and Garment Sewing Contests with Threads Magazine on Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon. The contests will take place at Trinity Methodist Church, 102 Lynwood Drive, Huxley.
Each year, Threads magazine poses a themed design challenge to the members of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals (ASDP). The 2016 challenge was to design an ensemble that included at least one major quilted garment.
Gayle Moline, a member of the local ASG chapter, won the Best Construction category with her beautiful salt-and-pepper tweed jacket and skirt. The jacket’s ornate floral quilting designs were created by following the motifs on the printed silk lining, using bobbinwork. The jacket edges are trimmed with a double band of bias binding, which also conceals a front zipper closure.
Join us at the November meeting to hear Gayle share experiences from the competition, and about the process of reviewing patterns for Threads Magazine.
This meeting will also include show and tell and a free table.
