WCHS vocalists selected for 2017 All-State Choir
Haley Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and Elycia Obrecht of Webster City High School have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as members of the 2017 All-State Choir. Haley and Matthew Johnson are the daughter and son of Brent and Laurie Johnson of Webster City. Elycia Obrecht is the daughter of Greg and Dawn Obrecht of Webster City.
The 2017 Festival will celebrate the 71st anniversary of this prestigious event. District Auditions for the 281-piece All-State Band 201-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Choir were held Saturday, Oct. 21, at Storm Lake, Hampton, Independence, Atlantic, Indianola, and Washington. Approximately 17 percent of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on Saturday evening, Nov. 18, 2017. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast. Check the IPTV website (www.iptv.org) for the exact dates and times. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
Tickets are $22 each, plus fees, and all seats are reserved. There are two methods tickets may be obtained for the Iowa All-State Festival Concert:
• Method 1 – ISU Athletics Ticket Office – At Window now on sale. The ISU Athletics Ticket Office is located on the west side of the Jacobson Athletic Building in Ames, Iowa. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a $6.00 per ticket handling fee.
• Method 2 – Ticketmaster – Orders may be placed by phone 800-745-3000 online www.ticketmaster.com, or at any Iowa Ticketmaster outlet on sale now. Ticketmaster will charge a per-ticket convenience fee.
